Life and Me!

Thu Jan 21:

I woke up at 5:45 am this morning feeling fantastic and ready to cut all ties with Sugar! That asshole!

That’s me – Trying to find my half eaten pack of gummies! The things we do for love! smh!

After completing my Japanese lesson on Duolingo, I did a quick HIIT workout then jumped in the shower with my speaker cause it’s waterproof. (jk – I put it on the counter). Once I got back to my room, I decided to throw the remaining bag of gummies in the garbage. Yes! “Fuck you! It’s over between us forever!” Sadly, by 3:00 pm, I was fishing the package out of the garbage – Forever lasted approximately 8 hours. I ate the remaining gummies for my afternoon snack and had some Haagen-Dazs ice cream as chaser.

During our late lunch chat, Dee asked me why I’m eating so much junk. I have no idea. “Hopefully, it’s a phase I will grow out of soon.” Oh man! Let’s hope I don’t die before I can permanently course-correct. Is there sugar in heaven? Probably not cause it’s bad for you. I think sugar is in hell, waiting to kill you all over again!

My OKR session with the team went well, I am getting better at not letting negativity affect me negatively – but I still have work to do so I don’t respond defensively in the moment. Whenever you approach situations/people with the attitude of trying to understand it/them first your entire perspective changes. You should read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius – Google has free pdf version out there.

Begin the morning by saying to thyself, I shall meet with the busybody, the ungrateful, arrogant, deceitful, envious, unsocial … I can neither be injured by any of them, for no one can fix on me what is ugly, nor can I be angry with my kinsman, nor hate him. For we are made for co-operation, like feet, like hands, like eyelids, like the row of the upper and lower teeth. To act against one another then, is contrary to nature …

Meditations (Book II)

Isn’t that beautiful! Dee’s boss sent her a copy and now I am also reading it! As usual, I had a great convo with my boss during our 1:1, I am happy that I have permission to use Asana for our OKRs. I hate when we have access to application, that we’re paying for and we don’t use/explore all of it’s functionality. There’s some stuff I wanted to show him but he is dealing with some family stuff so wasn’t in the office.

I need to go back to my 3:45/4:00 am wake up – I am most productive in the morning and late evening/night time. I used to do my language lessons, training and creative work first thing, which really felt great. By 7:00 am, I’d start work and finish the day around 4:00 pm unless there was something urgent going on!

I’m all out of rice seasoning (furikake) BTW!
