Neighbourly

I sit to meditate
Single lotus pose
Palms up - of course

Instead
My mind wanders
To thoughts of you
But I do not return
To the present

I follow you
To Galaxies
Millions of light years away
In the stellar nursery
I watch you give birth to stars

I follow you through
Life cycles of violence
Watching stars
Rip themselves apart

And as we move through
Vast intergalactic spaces
Cherishing random winks
By rogue stars, long expelled
From their Galaxy of birth

You help me, understand my place
In our Cosmic Neighbourhood
The weight of the Greater Good
As Nature would have it
(not humanhood)

I sit to meditate
Single lotus pose
Palms up - of course
