Advice is a funny word. I see it as ad-vice. Are you adding a vice to my life? Are you advertising vices? lol. That’s just me and has nothing to do with the word origin.
OPINION
Let’s say someone was to give you unsolicited advice. And this someone could be anyone. Will you evaluate the advice at face value or will you consider the information based on who is giving it (i.e.: age, profession, etc.), their appearance (i.e.: race, age, etc.) AND how you feel about the who and the what?
Lately, I find myself wondering if the bible contains as much good stuff as it does bad? Maybe it’s not a good book or a bad book. It’s just a neutral book; what we decide to focus on is entirely up to the individual. BUT I think it is good to know all of what’s in there so you can make an informed decision.
š¶ You got me runnin’, goin’ out of my mind. You got me thinkin’ that I’m wastin’ my time. Don’t bring me down. No, no, no, no, no. Ooh-ooh-hoo. I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor. Don’t bring me down. š¶
Don’t Bring Me Down – Electric Light Orchestra
I have good and bad qualities. Character is black and white right? There are no shades. I wouldn’t want people to focus on my bad qualities only. (There is a scientific reason why the bad sticks with us.) I realize some undesirable qualities can be worse than others, AND people can have more negative vs positive ones. Others might be fine with what I may consider ewww, like loud sipping, burping, leaving your shit all over the place or public nose picking (among several others š ).
Choose your choice
Maybe I should not compare a book to a person. Let’s wrap this up before I forget where I’m going. My points:
- Although challenging, we can choose what we focus on
- We can choose to evaluate advice at face value or dismiss it immediately because we don’t like/respect the person giving it
- We can choose to focus on the good things of a person and a book
Sometimes I get sad and angry because I see how poorly we treat each other and I read posters on the subway reminding people to be respectful. And I think … Really. Still.

Then I see people doing tai chi in my neighbourhood, and that makes me smile (and laugh at the two in the back who are getting it all wrong). But they’re out there trying!

I am choosing to focus on the good in the world, and I will manage the bad (what I believe it to be) by expressing it in some form – my way of dealing instead of letting it bring me down. Although it might still, but I gotta get it out.

ART
Sometimes I can see things in my head so clearly but when I draw it … smh

I didn’t use pencil to sketch first – was able to use charcoal block only. That makes me happy AND this is from my imagination š
