Beyond Measure

I can sense ill intent
Telling me I’m not worthy
Too clingy. Friendly seen as flirty
“Wait till we get home!” Fatherly

Ahh… to be free
If it were easy
I’d outrun my past
you and your implants

Given infrequent rations
Love in a pinch. A quarter teaspoon. A cup
When I am on my best behaviour
If you are feeling generous
When, to you, I’m gorgeous

Ahh… to be free
From anger management, couples therapy
My love for you never prevents the storm
I see them coming
The light leaving your eyes, the pattern returning

I would love to be loved consistently

The poem expresses the pain of a relationship marked by control, insecurity, and conditional love. It conveys a deep desire for freedom and to be loved consistently, without fear or judgment. Its central message reveals the need for a healthy, stable, and respectful love, where dignity and peace of mind do not depend on the other person’s emotional state.

Happy holidays! Thank you for sharing this and for opening up this space for dialogue. Your text invites reflection and leaves a lasting impression; it naturally resonates differently with each reader, and therein lies much of its richness. I wish you a peaceful holiday season filled with inspiration.
