People come
Then they depart
Like the seasons
Staying long enough
For various reasons
Then they depart
Sometimes abruptly
Staying long enough
To bring spring showers
Only, I was expecting snow
But always, they leave me
With a bit more
Than I used to know
Others may stay too long
Then I, become withdrawn
Leaving them forlorn
But I too must depart
For I am a season as well
A mostly joyous one, I hope
Do tell
Is there anyone I wish didn't go?
Gimme a second to think ...
No!
Like the ever-changing seasons
With each other, we ebb and we flow
Did I leave you with more than you used to know?
I'd like to think so!
Have I written this poem before? Perhaps I’ve only thought about it in a dream. Or could I have said it differently somewhere else? Maybe this thought reflects my paranoia about sounding the same.
