It's the start of a new year, and promises are flying about everywhere. Countless numbers have already fallen flat, littering roadways and things like that. Resolution Officers freed hundreds of thousands from trees, transmission towers, power lines and antennas. Although officers recommend going as high as possible over the next few weeks to release your dreams and desires, please remember, as the cost of cleaning up continues to rise, 2025 will be the last year for making empty promises.

I like the humor. None of mine will be there, because I don’t make such audacious promises to myself. Makes for light footprints in the snow. Thanks for making me think of this. Blessings. Happy New Year.

I’m so glad you joined us for the first prompt of the dVerse Poets Pub this year with this metaphorical haibun, Samantha. I love the idea of promises flying about everywhere and being freed from ‘trees, transmission towers, power lines and antennas’. No more empty promises, I promise, but I can’t speak for anyone else.

Samantha, your haibun humorously captures the aftermath of New Year’s resolutions. The imagery of promises littering the landscape and the recommendation to go high to release dreams is both clever and entertaining!
