Ruthless Reconsideration

Unfortunately, dad had to cancel his trip last minute because of the weather! It’s freezing in my closet because the back wall connects to the balcony – and I guess they skimped on the insulation, “Who needs a warm closet?”. When I open the door I might as well be outside.

I was watching White Christmas (195x) and it felt so strange – Everyone is “white,” which made me laugh at the film title and all the women were shaped the same. I still enjoyed the song and dance scenes. The movie is not coming off my list, same for A Christmas Story (198x) (remember the end when they go to the Chinese restaurant.) I watch and read everything with fresh critical eyes – even things that are only for entertainment purposes. Now that I have these new eyes I cannot close them.

Are you ready for the holidays?

We’re not doing gifts this year, and probably never will again. I plan to reserve my gift-giving for birthdays. Everything else is whatever. Eventually, I will go back to buying Gifts of Hope from Plan Canada. But first, I gotta climb outta this hole! (never to dig one again.)

If I get a partner, for Valentine’s Day we can do shit; walking/talking (more than usual)/driving – have you ever gone for a drive on county roads, where you see farms and horses and barns. I love that stuff. I am ruthlessly reconsidering the hows, wheres, whats and whys of spending. (I’m also doing the same for my time).

Today I called my ISP and got my bill reduced by ~ 170 bucks. Sweet right! AND I got my list of expenses pimp-slapping my face every time I sit at my desk. “Bitch you better have my money!”

“But I don’t want to have your money. I want to have my money!”

I’d like to get right of my streaming services but the whole family will be upset and in the larger scheme of things that is not where the big chunks of cash are going. I gotta get rid of the big guys. And keeping Austin Kleon’s mantra in my head is helping.

Wrong mantra! But that’s a good one to remember too.
