Once upon a time, I knew a roach
A travelling salesman, he’d always fly coach
One day, a crew member called him unclean
That roach! He created a scene
Now no one thinks he’s yucky
With all that lawsuit money
He started a Brooch and Broach company
Out in Fayette County, Kentucky

This was supposed to be my second , or third, attempt at a limerick; everything was fine until I got to the last line. I had to revise it all – now it’s just a freeform poem that dreamed of being a limerick that was inspired by Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, and I imagine if Kafka and Dr. Seuss collaborated this poem could be the outcome.
