Jun 1 – Journal Entry

André always asks me out of the blue questions. We went out to play basketball, but the court was full. So we went for a walk down to his school, and that court was full too. On the way, he asked me, “If you could have any wild animal for a pet, which animal would you want?”

“I would want a vulture. Well, a California condor. I will keep him in my bedroom, and he could watch me sleep.” I imagined the condor chillin’ on my nightstand.

“That’s terrifying.” We laugh, then I say …

“Yeah. Hopefully, he doesn’t think I’m dead when I’m sleeping and try to eat me.”

I do actually find those birds fascinating.

I thought the prompts were over, but Sue is still supplying daily words. This is great because, on my way home, I wondered if I could trust myself to continue writing all by myself. Thank you Sue!!! But now this means that I am behind again – I still have “Challenge” to write for, from the May prompts. And now, I also have “Begin” and “City.” But I am grateful to Sue for continuing.

So I went into the office like I said. I was all excited, then I got to work and it just felt pointless. I’m there alone. The whole point of going to the office is to socialize. And work, of course 🙂

During our exec meeting, my boss asked me, “Sam! How do you like being in the office?”

“Meh. I can work from home. There’s no one here for me to talk to.” I don’t think that’s the answer he wanted.

I caught up with my daughter today – we chatted for over an hour about work and politics and books.
