Weird Wildlife

Rock hopping with penguins
Cracking jokes along the highway

I laughed:
You guys walk silly
Try doing it my way

Not paying attention
I missed a step and fell in the ocean
Tried hard to swim, but hypothermia set in

Two guards came to rescue 
Towing me back to shore

Pointing, I asked:
Can you take me up there
Where I was before

He barked:
You’ve disrupted the crèche
Showed up during moulting season
Don’t you have human friends
Why do you come here 
What is your reason

Shivering, I said:
I was a penguin in a past life

The other guard snapped:
Definitely not a penguin
Just some strange wildlife
