It’s raining and windy out! I was supposed to be working on my novel, but I ended up writing this…

Do you know what I hate more than man-babies? Certain types of gatekeepers!

I came across two articles this week featuring execs and/or business owners discussing AI. One guy fired his entire HR team – I wondered for a split second if he was going to distribute those savings among his remaining employees. Then I slapped the back of my head and said, “Are you daft?” Or maybe he will. I only skimmed the article.

The other article was about someone saying that in the next 12-18 months, AI will replace all white-collar jobs. All white-collar jobs, Techbro? Like each and every single one? And even if they think that, why are you publishing it?

I also hate Chicken Little alarmists!

I have yet to come across a piece in which someone in a position of power discusses what will happen to the masses who lose their jobs. What are we preparing to do to take care of those people so they can maintain the quality of life they had, assuming they’re at minimum, a mid-six-figure household for a family of four, and if they weren’t, what are you willing to do to improve their standard of living?

I think for single people in Toronto, it’s about 60k to thrive, depending on what thriving means to you. I’d definitely need more.

I’ll stand corrected, because I cannot read everything; maybe there’s something out there, and maybe governments and corporations are actively working together on solutions.

Have you ever noticed how people compare a thing to something worse? Rarely is it ever better. For example, “Our city only had 150 murders per 100k last year; those guys had 300. Are you feeling safer already?” vs “Our city had 150 murders per 100k last year; those guys had 30. Let’s figure out what they’re doing differently.”

When we get to Mars, are we going to use up all the resources and then leave the poor people to fend for themselves while we look for another planet? When Black people start showing up, it’s time to go and we taking all our shit with us! To be clear: “We” does not include me.

Did you hear about the guy who’s planning to build a mirrored satellite so people can rent sunlight for, like, 10k an hour or something? I think he used to work for OpenAI or SpaceX. They will be able to point the mirrors, and voilà, instant sunlight.

Disclaimer: Don’t quote me on anything. Ever! I know what I read, but my memory is really bad. I’d feel most comfortable if you did your research and drew your conclusions.
