… That’s not me in the photo. One day when I am no longer camera shy, I will share a current photo with you.
How’s life?
Last Thursday May 30 I went to see Matt play Danny in Grease. I met his drama teacher and some theatre lady. They’re in love with him. It was fantastic to watch him on stage, especially when he was singing because I remembered him practicing all the songs. Singing his heart out in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
I’m so proud of him – but it’s more important that he be proud of himself! He mostly is, he says!
MyWritingSelf
This month’s writing challenge didn’t go well, I didn’t write nearly as much as I thought. I was like, “Guys! I’m gonna write two pieces!!!” and I was all excited. Oh well. I didn’t finish Troll and Ballerina but Dee is working on the illustrations and I am writing a little at a time. However, I am not going to meet my self-imposed deadline.
I must get over this idea of waiting for bursts of inspiration and writing when I wake up with full or lines of poems in my head. I just have to show up and write everyday and when I do it, I am often surprised at how it flows but like with everything else, I am not consistent.
Do you remember the P90X motto …
Decide
Commit
Succeed
I consistently have trouble with the commit part – that’s why I’m still fat. ugh! At least I can be consistent with something!
When I get rich, I’m gonna have a personal chef and a personal trainer and a hairstylist and a sextourage (kinda like a harem but not). I have been eating less carbs though, at least when I am at home, but I love going out to eat so I need to pick better. But I am easily influenced – I’d be a wonderful cult member.
Chat GPT is my new best friend. After I exported my WordPress content in XML format, I had trouble converting it to CSV, but ChatGPT did it in no time flat and even removed the HTML tags and extra whitespaces so I could view the content only. Hooray!!!
I don’t need to trouble myself with third-party converters anymore. Hip Hip!
The other night, I woke up around 2:00 am with the first line of a poem in my head, and I ended up with Sonnet 29. Yay. But then, I realized if I want to write 155 Shakespearian Sonnets, then I could not count all the sonnets I’ve written in the same way.
Based on my analysis and teaching CGPT to recognize a my poems, because I don’t always follow the traditional formats … So far, I’ve written,
- 12 – Shakespearian Sonnets
- 4 – Petrarchan Sonnets
- 147 – Freeverse
I still have 88 to categorize and random poems I’ve written, like fib and cinq, that I haven’t counted yet. I will give you a full list later. Also, there are some posts I have in Literary Arts, that shouldn’t be in that category because it’s reserved only for things I’ve authored – poems, short stories, flash fiction, etc.
Ms. Angelou wrote 167 poems, Walt Whitman wrote about 400. I don’t like to admit it but I am competitive. If I were a man would it be easier for me to admit to my competitive nature? Maybe it has nothing to do with that – it may be because, if I lose, I can easily pretend I didn’t care in the first place. I’ll just keep on lying to myself.
I am also familiarizing myself with Black living poets. When I was in the Village the other day I bought Africanthology: Perspectives of Black Canadian Poets.

The weather is becoming unbearably hot. I am looking forward to the soca boat ride in July or end of June!
