Silence and Me

You don't need to speak to me
to enjoy my company

If it's on your mind, that's fine
We can discuss it another time

Please don't try to figure it out
I love you. Of that, there's no doubt

Get comfortable with me
The silence, us three

***

We argued all-day
To your dismay
I had nothing to say

Silence does not dampen his anger
In fact, it makes him madder and madder

Don't look to me, to manage your emotions
Ferocious explosions

No respite in sight
An unfair fight

Be calm, be still
Do it at will

Sleepy drunk
To bed in a funk

I'll be fine when you're gone
I knew it all along

***

My life none the lesser
With silence a treasure

Diamonds and gold
A story untold

Rich inner voice
Quiet by choice

With silence in tow
I'm willing to go

Silence and Me - Sam In Three Parts

Sometimes when I write, I find myself using the same words, like “say” for example, and I want to stop myself or rewrite to use something else. But if it feels right, I feel I should write it anyway.

You always manage to communicate your messages in such a unique manner… you are obviously very self-aware and aware of your surroundings. I bet it serves you well!

Thank you for the compliment and for taking the time to read my work.

I feel that my natural introversion leads to a lot of introspection – maybe too much sometimes.
