I do not want your man
But if you take mine, that’s fine
I neither conflate, nor do I equate
relationship with ownership
If your man wants to stray
And I feel the need to play, I’ll do it anyway
Don't look to me and stew
You’re ready to fight and go on stink
I’m probably not the only woman he’s “talking” to
Take your grievances to him
I don’t recall making commitments to you
When I’m done, you can have him back
He might be good for a tryst
Not someone I’d build a life with
Can you see? You’re safe with me
But likely, I won’t be the last woman you encounter
Aren’t you accustomed to
- wife, hubby and lover
-- plus how many others
Maybe he’s at one a day — or two
And then there is you
In my halcyonic life
Whether matie or wife
I refuse to deal with strife
