What is my self-worth tied to
On tallying achievements
     —a numbers game
On an identity 
     that is not mine to claim
Or an Ego 
     that may lead me to blame
        blinding my judgment
        reduced to a myopic view
        I cannot hear or get a clue

Why do we behave the way we do
I get the feeling something's askew
In reflecting, I may not see the full view

How do I measure my maturity
By knowing 
     when to abstain
     when either side has nothing to gain
     when to concede without disdain
     when to stay in my lane

On ego, growth, and walking off the board by learning to step back from the battles that don’t serve me.
