The Best of Me

Written by

For forgiving my teenage transgressions
Thank you

Actually, let's extend that to my twenties
On second thought, you'd better include
The thirties through nineties.

Hmm ...
Can you remain open to forgiveness
For as long as I'm alive

I may approach
That regrettable event horizon

Did it seem like a good idea at the time
You bet.

And with my impulsive side
You never know what you're going to get

After I'm gone
Hold a place in your heart
For things that may come to light

Although I may not make it easy
Keep the best parts of me
In your memory
