Looking up, I see rivers of blue
They remind me of the early days
Those days, when all I knew
Before you withdrew
Was the loving tenderness
Whiskey cigar lounge
Scent of you
And as my tears fall
Like the rain
In a Thailand monsoon
Never-ending
From November to June
And as your rage burns
Billows of smoke
Filling the room
Choking me
Lovingly
Suffocating me
Tenderly
In the fabric of your wrath
I remember it all
Looking through the waterfall
The smell of purple roses
On our first Valentine
Vanilla scented candles
Alfredo pasta and white wine
Basil and parsley floating in the air
Tenderly
Lovingly
I remember
Who you used to be
How you treated me
Looking through the waterfall
I remember it all ... as I wait
For that man to return
I endure the smoke
In hopes of smothering the fire
Before your fabric of wrath
Extinguishes me
Permanently
I should have listened
When friends and family told me
Repeatedly - warning me
They never saw what I still see
