I was maroon
Mahogany. Maybe
Reddish-brown with certainty
The flowers, dinner dates
His +1 in so many ways
Over time, the quality of love declined
I became a violet-blue despondency
Sprinkled with silver glitters of rage
We were no longer on the same page
But further still, perhaps against my will
I'd give in to his emberlight glow
A firefly, was I
Wounded. Soon to die
Hurting but hooked
Unattended like yellow grass
If only we could go back to the past
