His self-importance is self-evident to everyone but himself
He listens merely long enough to think of what to say, then interrupts
And shrugs others off with a dismissive “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
He even interrupts himself
Absorbed with interjecting
Only to pause for what appears to be ...
But is definitely not self-reflecting
Looking up, up and away
For more irrelevant things to say
Assuming his silence gives them room
Others speak up and meet their doom
Helplessly, we watch as he departs
On ramblings of self-aggrandizing things
Meetings must always allow him to impart
Knowledge peacocking as an art
Because surely, everyone cares, just as much
As this self-absorbed douche does
He is the definition of oblivious
---
Oh, Sir, can you teach me
The art of narcissistic oblivity?
Dedicated to the guy with the fragile ego.

My endings are a Haiku, a question and an erasure of my words. I wanted to end in a Haiku because of its conciseness, which is appropriate for a poem about someone who talks too much. 🙂 The question and word erasure are incidental.

Thank you, Samantha for joining us, Samantha, with a very original poem about the end of a narcissist’s ramblings. I’m sure we all know someone like that. I really like the way you incorporated three endings, the excellent reason for ending in a haiku, and the repetition of ‘self’ in the opening line, which is a great introduction to your narcissist. These lines made me chuckle:
‘He even interrupts himself
Absorbed with interjecting’
and ‘Meetings must always allow him to impart
Knowledge peacocking as an art’.
Sorry about the two ‘Samantha’s. I’ve done my back in and am a bit distracted by the ache.
No worries. Sending well wishes. I hope you feel better soon. 🤗
Thank you, Sam.
Thank you, Kim!
