How do you know it's time to go

When there are
           no more lessons to learn
           no rewards to be earned
           no challenges
           no knowledge to gain
           no proactive activity

How do you know it's time to go

When stagnation reigns
and people only talk about change

When micromanagement is all they know
and your skills are underutilized, and you feel
the confidence in your abilities waning, and
professional growth is laughed at, like it's a joke

When conversations are one-sided
and you feel talked at or heard, but
in those moments, definitely
you were NOT understood, and
this experience has many times occurred

When your requests and aspirations for
engaging, meaningful work falls on deaf ears
When you cannot contribute or add value
Even though that is what you yearn to do

When all that is offered are placebos
and symptoms are treated instead of root causes
When often, you pause and wonder, what is this?
Most certainly, I am not where I need to be

That's when you know, it's time to go
