Design – Daily Word Prompt

I heard someone say, “we don’t think about design until we put a poorly designed toothbrush in our mouth.”

My design awareness has heightened over the last seven years, partly due to working in software development and seeing through my daughter’s graphic design eyes.

I understand the importance of white space and placement. I know how flow feels, vs congestion, when moving through the areas we share. Design thinking comes into play at work when looking at process improvement efficiencies to remove waste and redundancies. I gravitate toward simplicity when designing processes at work. Challenging, but the results are fantastic. My love affair with simplicity may explain my adoration of all things Japanese.

My goodness! Rush hour on the TTC – poorly designed subway stations become evident. Or frustrations when using certain software to complete tasks.

I also love architecture, not considering their function here but instead the beauty of the lines and materials used to create the building. I mostly enjoy clean lines and curves but I wouldn’t want my home to be too modern, where it feels cold and sterile.
